It’s interesting as humans we are constantly trying to simplify.

We crave simplicity in a world that is complicated, perplexing and intricate. We want to find sense in the chaos.

This is why we find bliss in a glass of wine, fresh flowers, tea after a long day, late night silence or a cup of coffee in the morning.

Maybe this could be the reason we created religions, labels, categories, identities, diets, spirituality… To trying the comprehend the impossible.

Because that’s how we handle the weight of it all. Our ability to believe we found simplicity when there is no such thing.

I find it fascinating that during a time in my life when there was more discord I started to paint what I believed is the uncomplicated or ‘the simple pleasures in life’. It was my way of being able to cope with the world. Just as humans have always done.
